WORLD HALAL FOOD COUNCIL (WHFC) EUROPE THE 2013 EDITION

WORLD HALAL FOOD COUNCIL (WHFC) EUROPE THE 2013 EDITION

HOSTED BY: HALAL INTERNATIONAL AUTHORITY (HIA)

The 2013 edition of the World Halal Food Council (WHFC) of Europe will be held in Italy. The Halal International Authority (HIA) will host the meeting at the city of Milan, the capital par excellence of the Italian economy. On 2nd March, 2013 at the Sheraton Malpensa Hotel, WHFC Members together with important leaders, observers and experts in the Halal field from around the world will be there. This annual meeting of WHFC Europe will be a special opportunity as it will discuss important issues related to Halal certification common rules, struggles to cope with and opportunities to develop in European Halal market.

This year meeting is organized and hosted by the Italian branch of HIA, Halal International Authority, the only Italian Halal Certification Body that is member of WHFC. The World Halal Food Council was founded in September 1999 to strengthen Muslim brotherhood and cooperation between Halal Certification Bodies in the world. The first president was Mrs. Professor Aisha Girindra. The mission of the WHFC is to harmonize Halal standards in several fields. Over the years WHFC changed its name to "World Halal Council". However in 2011 the original name was restored. This edition of the WHFC Europe will be honored by the presence of illustrious personalities: Dr. Abdul Munim Al Chaman, Regional Representatives of WHFC for European Region, Ir. Lukmanul Hakim, M,Si President of the WHFC and Director of the Halal Food and Drug Controlling Institute (LPPOM MUI), Drs. Amidhan Saberah, Chairman of MUI, Dr. Mohamed Ichwan Sam, Secretary General of MUI and Sheikh Dr. Sharif Lorenzini, President of Halal International Authority (HIA) and Esad Alagic, Regional Representatives of WHFC for Australia and New Zealand Region.

Confirmation of presence of honorable representatives arrived from all WHFC Europe members who will be attending the meeting as to discuss the topics of the event:

Halal International Authority (HIA),

Halal Food and Feed Inspection Authority,

Halal Quality Control, Halal Food Council of Europe,

Halal Institute of Spain,

European Institute of Halal,

Halal Control,

The Grand Mosque of Paris,

Halal Certification Services,

Halal Correct,

The Muslim Religious Union of Poland and

The Muslim Food Board.

There will be also representatives from other leading Halal Certification Bodies, members of the World Halal Food Council, including IFANCA, Islamic Co-Ordinating Council of Victoria and Australian Federation of Islamic Councils.

The experts will debate how to regulate the certification system at European level. Even today, in front of an audience of over than two billion Halal consumers in the world, of which 35 million consumers are in Europe, there is a scarce clarity in the process of Halal certificates issued by bodies not internationally recognized, as well as bodies of dubious Islamic faith and doctrine, which represent an element of a strong obstacle for Muslim consumers to receive authentic Halal products and services coming from Europe, and on the other hand, represents a strong obstacle for Europe against the achievement of important slices of Halal global market. Therefore, the role of the WHFC Europe is fundamental in linking the European Union's Halal offer to the global Muslim Consumers and Halal markets demand. This meeting is also a great opportunity to strengthen the synergy among members of the WHFC, in order to care the common interests and ensure better protection for the Halal consumers.
